we worked with viviana to develop the arcibaldo stool. this playful design uses cnc valchromat and simple joints to make sculptural stools inspired by roman arches

‘ARCIBALDO originates from the concept of the keystone in Etruscan and Roman masonry arches. The keystone represents the essential structural element granting the stability of the arch.
It was placed last during construction and locked all stones into place allowing the arch to bare weight. At the same time it served as an ornament.
Inspired by this idea, the structural backbone and therefore all joints of ARCIBALDO are laid bare and become a visual feature.

Arcibaldo is available in Douglas Fir, different colours of Valchromat and more materials on request.
